What to do if your cryptocurrency deposit has expired

If you see a message like “Deposit expired” (or a message saying no payment was detected in time), it usually means the transaction wasn’t received and confirmed before CoinGate’s payment window closed. This is most often caused by network congestion, sending the payment too late, or the transfer taking longer than expected.

CoinGate deposits come with a 20-minute payment window. If the deposit doesn’t register within that timeframe, the invoice automatically expires. Once that happens, you can’t complete that same deposit anymore and you’ll need to request a refund (if you already sent funds) and then start a new deposit to finish your purchase/top-up.

What to do if you already paid

  1. Go to the Crypto Deposits tab and locate the expired order. Then press the button under “Payment page”

2. In the new window that opened, click the three-dot (⋯) menu item and choose "Need help"

3. Choose "I paid, but my order expired."

4. Press the "Contact us" link

5. Fill in the required information:

Email: the email used when creating the deposit

Message: a short explanation (for example: “I sent the payment, but the invoice expired.”)

Requesting a refund?: switch this ON

Transaction network: the blockchain/network you used (check your wallet history if needed)

Transaction ID (TxID): copy it from your wallet’s transaction/activity details

Refund address: the address where you want the refund sent (make sure it matches the correct coin and network)

Press “Send”

After you submit: refunds are often processed the same day, but timing can vary. You should receive an email confirmation when the refund is issued.

How to complete the purchase/top-up afterward

Once the refund is confirmed (or if you never paid in the first place), simply create a new deposit and try again. Try sending the payment immediately and double-checking the coin + network before you send.
